Ice Pigging Update 3/27/20

Progress continues with ice pigging after Environmental Utilities and Suez completed Anthem Park, Cypress Preserve and Magnolia Green this past week. By March 30 next week, work will finish in Verandah Lakes, Canoe Creek Lakes, and Pine Lakes Estates and then move to 17th Street east of Budinger, Mutter Road, Oakview and Pinewood Gardens for the remainder of the week.  Ice pigging will continue during the Osceola County Shelter in Place Order.

The City has entered into a contract with Suez to continue ice pigging into the month of April tentatively through May 1st.

Additionally, a contract has been executed with Professional Pipeline Services, Inc. to perform traditional pigging, also called “swabbing,” of several miles of water line. Staff is finalizing the work and communications plans for scheduling this part of the project.  As stated previously, this company’s work would complement and supplement that of the current ice pigging which would be slightly accelerated. More information will be provided when the company’s process, work areas, and work schedule and communications plans are finalized.

Customer Service is continuing to survey customers in developments that have received ice pigging in order to gauge customer satisfaction and gain feedback on the success or any customer issues that may have occurred as a result. The survey is being distributed through Constant Contact and is sent to those customers for whom Customer Service has e-mail addresses. Surveys will be conducted of Anthem Park, Cypress Preserve and Magnolia Green customers in the coming week.

Information has been disseminated to customers in a bill insert and through the website to flush their hot water heater after the water line serving their residence has received the ice pigging. Detailed step-by-step instructions are provided in both the bill insert and on the website.

We would like to hear from those customers who are still seeing discolored water/particles, or experiencing low pressure after ice pigging is completed. Please contact our Customer Service Department at 407-957-7344, so we have record of the occurrence and can attend to accordingly.
