The Lines Division has responsibility for improvement, operations, and maintenance of over 230 miles of Water, Sewer, and Reclaim Water Mains. To properly maintain these systems, remain compliant with current and changing regulations, and to ensure a high level of service, the Line Systems Division conducts numerous programs summarized as follows:
Ø Video Inspections of New Lines for Acceptance and Existing Lines to Identify Improvement/Maintenance Needs;
Ø Cross Connection Control Program (Recognized as one of the top in the State of Florida);
Ø Irrigation System Inspections;
Ø Sewer Lateral Inspection Services;
Ø Backflow Prevention Device Testing;
Ø Line Location and Marking Services;
Ø Construction and Line Extension Activities;
Ø Repair Activities; and
Ø Response Customer Service Inquiries.
In order to effectively implement these programs, the Line Systems Division has 13 staff members with either a Water Distribution Certification or Wastewater Collection Certification. In addition, our backflow technicians have a Backflow Tester and Repair Certification on top of the required Water Distribution Certification. Even when the Lines Division staff are not on-duty, adequate staff are on call and ready to quickly respond to any emergency that might affect water distribution or sewer collection functions of the City.
The Lines Division staff members are proud of their customer service and encourage you to call in the event that you encounter a problem.
Beyond day-to-day operations, the Lines Division is looking toward the future and has exciting plans to improve our current infrastructure and expand to accommodate the growth in our area. Some of these plans include the following:
Ø Development of Water and Sewer Models to Evaluate the Effectiveness of our Distribution and Collection Systems;
Ø Video Inspection and Flow Monitoring Programs Geared at Reducing Sewer Infiltration and Inflow Problems;
Ø Continuation of Replacement Programs to Upgrade Water and Sewer Piping within the "Grid" area of the City;
Ø System expansions to improve water distribution, reclaim, distribution, and sewer collection system reliability, efficiency and accommodate growth in the area.
