General Requirements

Ø  Irrigation and plumbing contractors must be licensed or registered by the City Building Department.

Ø  All guidelines must be adhered to before service will be activated.

Ø  Periodic and annual inspections will be conducted on all connections. Any deviations from the original permit conditions may result in a written violation and/or termination of irrigation service.

Ø  In accordance with Ordinance 94-25, alternate/auxiliary or potable irrigation water meters are prohibited in the reclaim/reuse area.

Potable Irrigation Meter

In order to obtain a potable irrigation meter (no sewer charges) you will need to meet the following application requirements:

Ø  Present a legible site plan of the property indicating size, location, and number of sprinkler heads and/or hose bibs to be installed. If any sprinkler heads are to be placed in the City's right-of-way (ROW), you will also be required to obtain a ROW Permit. This permit can be obtained from the Environmental Utilities Department.

Ø  A backflow prevention assembly must be installed by the property owner or a licensed plumber. Only a licensed plumber may install the device on commercial property.

Ø  ROW Permit  $10.00

Water Impact Fees

Water impact fees are based on number of sprinkler/spray heads and amount of water each head distributes per minute.

Alternate Meter

This meter is not available to commercial property. It is for residential use only, such as: washing cars, filling pools, etc. This meter may not be connected to an in-ground irrigation system and you are limited to three (3) hose bibs. A backflow prevention device is not required. Vacuum breakers must be installed on each hose bib. Monthly usage charges apply. Sewer charges will not be charged on the water used.

Reclaim/Reuse Irrigation

Reclaim water is available only in selected areas of the City. You may call our office to find out if your property is within the service area. The application requirements are as follows:

Ø  Present a legible site plan of the property indicating size, location and number of sprinkler heads. If any heads are to be placed in the City's right-of-way (ROW), you will also be required to obtain a ROW Permit. This permit can be obtained from the Environmental Utilities Department.

Ø  Must be used for an in-ground sprinkler system only, no hose bibs are allowed. The system must be contained on your property and designed to prevent spray into the streets, sidewalks, swimming pools, etc. Reclaim water must never be used for drinking, filling pools, bathing, etc.

Ø  City personnel will install a backflow prevention assembly on residential property. All commercial property owners are responsible for ensuring that a licensed plumber installs the device on commercial property.

Ø  All valve boxes and sprinkler tops must be manufactured purple/lavender (paint is not acceptable). The City recommends manufactured purple/lavender pipe for new installation. Purple/lavender pipe and caps are available from most irrigation supply sources.
