Police Recruiting

 

2010 testing for the City of St. Cloud Police Department will be conducted on a need-by-need basis.  All tests will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m., and will be held at the Police Department Public Safety Complex building, located at 4700 Neptune RoadSt. Cloud

 

Initial Police Officer applications are accepted at all times utilizing the City’s main application (click on “Application” link at bottom of page).  Applications are also available in the Human Resources lobby, located at 1300 9th Street; Building B, 3rd Floor, or on our website: www.stcloud.org.  Applications that meet all of the minimum requirements will be forwarded to the hiring department.  The hiring department will contact applicants directly for confirmation of testing date. 

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Each applicant, must, at the time of testing:

 

·  Have a current Florida Police Standards Certification; or be currently enrolled in a Florida Police Academy, and in good standing.

·  Have a valid Florida driver’s license, and able to be insured by the City’s insurance carrier;

·  Be at least 19 years of age;

·  Be a citizen of the United States;

·  Be a high school graduate or equivalent;

·  Not have been convicted of any felony or a misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement;

·  Never have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States, and;

·  Have good moral character.

 

POLICE OFFICER EMPLOYMENT PROCESS

 

Prior to conditional offer of employment:

  1. Examination announcement
  2. Application
  3. Written examination
  4. Placement on eligibility list
  5. Job interview (information only - for background only)
  6. Polygraph tests
  7. Background and employment history investigation 
  8. Physical ability assessment course

 

After conditional offer of employment:

  1. Medical and drug screen
  2. Psychological exams

 

After employment:

  1. Field training program
  2. Twelve (12) month probation
  3. Regular status
