Misael “Mike” Cortez began his career in with the Philadelphia Police Department as a communications operator. After serving with the Marine Corps in Desert Storm he relocated to the St. Cloud Police Department in 1992. He advanced to supervisor in 1996, and was promoted to PSAP Manager in 2001.

The Support Service Division is overseen by the Support Service Manager. The Support Service Division includes the Communications, Records and Information Management Units.
 The Communication’s unit functions as the nucleus for the Police Department allowing for cohesive responses for emergency and non emergency request.
The Information Management unit provides the technological support that is needed so that officers are able to access various data bases that enhance their ability to gather information.
Record’s unit is responsible in archiving reports and other information so that this information can be used for investigations and court cases and for the records to be available for public records request. Together these units provide the logistical support needed for the day to day operations of the Police Department.
