POOL SAFETY

With the onset of spring and summer, the warmer weather means it’s time for outdoor activities.  With this in mind, the St. Cloud Fire Rescue Department has put together some personal pool safety information material for city residents.  It is the fire rescue department’s hope that this information will increase your safety awareness while giving you some ideas for adding some additional safety measures around your pool.

We encourage anyone with a swimming pool to contact fire administration to arrange for picking up a pool safety packet.  You and your family should go through the packet together so everyone in the home will learn the valuable information we've gathered about water safety.  If you have any questions after going through the packet, the St. Cloud Fire Rescue Department will be more than happy to assist you in obtaining answers.

Why are we doing this?  Because we care about the safety of our residents.  Nationally each year, more than 1,000 children ages 14 and under drown.  Children ages 4 and under represent almost 60% of these deaths.  For every child that drowns, an additional four are hospitalized for near-drownings.  Fifteen percent of children admitted for near-drownings die in the hospital (Source: National Safe Kids Campaign - Fact Sheet).

The St. Cloud Fire Rescue Department, in its effort to be pro-active in dealing with water-related emergencies, has implemented The Pool Safety Program.  This program is one of many offered by the fire rescue department to help make our community a safer place to live and grow.  The safety of our St. Cloud citizens is of utmost importance to us.

Any city resident desiring more information on the pool safety material or any of our other programs is encouraged to call the St. Cloud Fire Rescue Department at (407) 957-8488 during normal business hours or click the following links:
